According to OpenAI Codex product lead Alexander Embiricos, the secret lies in the model’s dynamic reasoning ability. GPT-5-Codex can evaluate the complexity of a task in real time and autonomously extend its working period when necessary—sometimes focusing on a single problem for up to seven hours.
